It doesn't really matter what you want to do. The key is in figuring out how you're going to get it done.
Gettting fit is always high on the list for at least a week into January. Helping others is noble if you actually do it. Determining your future, now that's a biggie.
So what are you planning to do and how will you get it done? My suggestion is to pick one important thing and stick with it. Make it something that matters. A 'To Do' that will change your world. For the better of course.
If I've learned one thing this year it is this. The power to change your life is in your hands.
On November 1, 2013 I rented space for WarrenBDC and took the plunge, putting my money where my mouth was. I then reviewed my team. What I required was a group of people that would help me reach my year end goal. (Thank you to all the players, you know who you are.) And equally key is that I could impact their lives in a meaningful way.
Over the past 12 months there have been changes. Some team members have left, others have joined and we will continue to evolve.
Understanding that we were in less charted territory, we wrote a plan and started implementing it. Surprise surprise, some things worked out while other ideas did not. What we thought was a great strategy needed a few adjustments here and there. OK maybe more than a few.
New insights continue to come out of our efforts and help to shape our direction daily. Positioned differently than we thought a year ago we are ultimately significantly stronger. The company is on track to reach our year end goals. We've taken several aggressive steps in preparation for 2015. Bookings for the new year and into Spring are ahead of plan.
We continue daily to recognize the strategies and tactics that are working and replacing the ones that are not. It's a moving target trying to get ahead in this new world. Helping boomer aged business owners figure out their next steps is our focus.
As I've said before, the party line at WarrenBDC when asked how will you do _______ is simply this? Either a straightforward answer or 'I don't know, we'll figure it out.' Somehow we always manage to figure it out and go one step further.
So I'm asking you to take that first step, whatever it is and move forward into your future. Yes it's more frightening than you can imagine and way more rewarding than you ever dreamed possible.
Over 2014 I've noticed a distinct pickup in readership of my emails by old friends and business associates that I may not have spoken with in a while. This is me reaching out. If you have a few minutes to catch up by telephone or you'd be open to a cup of coffee please let me know. It would be great to hear what you've been up to and what you have planned for 2015.
Cheers, Eric
